Goal rush rocks Inter

Internazionale FC lost 5-1 against rampant Arsenal FC while AS Monaco FC reached the knockout stages.

Arsenal FC ran wild in Milan against Internazionale FC while AS Monaco FC booked a place in the UEFA Champions League knockout stages on a night that also saw FC Bayern München keep their hopes of European glory alive.

Morientes winner
Monaco only needed a draw against PSV Eindhoven to join Real Madrid CF and Juventus FC in the next round and a header from striker Fernando Morientes in the 34th minute put them on their way. It was a bad-tempered game, with two Monaco players and one from PSV receiving red cards. PSV snatched a draw after Jan Venegoor of Hesselink's late equaliser, which keeps them in with a mathematical chance of staying in the competition.

Comfortable win for Deportivo
Deportivo are close to joining Monaco as Group C qualifiers after a comfortable 3-0 win against AEK Athens FC at the Riazor. A 22nd-minute strike from Héctor put the Spanish side on their way and second-half goals from Juan Carlos Valerón and Alberto Luque secured the three points.

Henry double
While Group C is nearly settled, two of the other groups remain too close to call. Arsenal resurrected their Group B hopes with a sensational 5-1 win in the San Siro against Inter. Two goals from Thierry Henry and one apiece from Fredrik Ljungberg, Edu and Robert Pires overshadowed Christian Vieri's solitary strike.

Parks winner
With Winston Parks' dramatic last-minute winner securing a 3-2 win for FC Lokomotiv Moskva against FC Dynamo Kyiv earlier in the day, just two points now separate the four sides in this section - with Lokomotiv and Arsenal filling the top-two slots going into Matchday 6.

Group A close
It is a similar story in Group A after tonight's games. Celtic FC and Bayern fought out a tense 0-0 draw in Glasgow while RSC Anderlecht secured a dramatic 1-0 win against Olympique Lyonnais thanks to Hannu Tihinen's 71st-minute header. With Celtic, Lyon and Anderlecht now all on seven points and Bayern on six there is still everything to play for in the final set of games.

Real struggle
With Galatasaray SK's home game against Juventus FC postponed due to the current security situation in Turkey, the only Group D encounter was the visit of Real Sociedad de Fútbol to Olympiacos CFP. The Spanish side, needing a win to make sure of a place in the next round, led 1-0 at half-time through Igor Gabilondo.

Schurrer rescue
However after Darko Kovacevic was sent off for Real, the Greek side mounted a comeback and edged 2-1 ahead with goals from Ieroklis Stoltidis and Nery Alberto Castillo. Gabriel Schurrer rescued a point for Real though and they remain on course to secure second place.
