Article body
Operation on Friday
Caçapa was stretchered off after 18 minutes of Lyon's match with Le Mans UC 72 on Saturday after suffering a recurrence of the problem that hampered him earlier in the season. The Brazilian defender had a scan yesterday which confirmed he would require surgery to remove a troublesome piece of cartilage in his right knee. The length of the lay-off cannot be determined until after Friday's operation.
Müller comes in
The 27-year-old will certainly play no part in Lyon's UEFA Champions League matches with Real Sociedad de Fútbol, the first of which takes place in San Sebastian tomorrow. Swiss international Patrick Müller is set to replace him in the centre of defence and will also take the captain's armband.
