Monaco get extra time

AS Monaco FC will play their final Ligue 1 match early, allowing them more time to prepare for Gelsenkirchen.

Bordeaux trip
All the matches usually kick off at the same time on the final day in France, but the Ligue de Football Professionnel (LFP) decided yesterday to make an exception for Monaco, who will now visit FC Girondins de Bordeaux on Friday 21 May. The remaining fixtures will be played two days later.

'Exceptional cases'
Monaco face FC Porto in Gelsenkirchen on 26 May and LFP president Frédéric Thiriez said: "To exceptional cases belong exceptional rules." It was impossible for the LFP to bring the whole round of matches forward because of the friendly international between France and Brazil on 20 May.

Ten days to prepare
Monaco's opponents Porto will have ten days to prepare for the final following their appearance in this Saturday's Portuguese Cup final against SL Benfica.
