Frings bound for Bayern

Torsten Frings has left BV Borussia Dortmund to sign for FC Bayern München.

Germany goal
Bayern confirmed the acquisition of the 27-year-old this morning. Frings is currently on international duty with Germany at the UEFA European Championship in Portugal and last night scored his country's goal in their 1-1 draw against the Netherlands.

Desire for trophies
"I joined Borussia Dortmund two years ago because I wanted to play for a team challenging for the title," Frings said. "Sadly things have been a mess there recently and my goal of winning trophies was in danger. That is why I wanted to join Bayern. Hardly any other side in Germany can guarantee success like Bayern. If I don't win anything here then I must be doing something wrong."

Fourth signing
Frings, who left SV Werder Bremen to join Dortmund in 2002, is Bayern's fourth new signing of the summer. Both clubs have declined to announce the transfer fee involved.

Oliseh deal
Meanwhile, Dortmund have handed a one-year contract to Nigerian international midfield player Sunday Oliseh, who spent two months on loan at the club last season after being released by VfL Bochum 1848 following a dressing-room incident.
