Torn ligament
The Dutch striker was forced to limp out of training on Tuesday and a scan revealed a slight tear to the ligament in his left knee. Doctors estimate that the 28-year-old could be sidelined for two to three weeks, ruling him out of the away leg at Lyon's Stade Gerland on 5 April and making him a serious doubt for the return at the Philips Stadium a week later.
Frustrating season
It is the latest blow in a frustrating season for De Jong, who has already spent several weeks on the treatment table with foot and knee injuries. He has therefore played little part in PSV's Champions League run - his last European appearance coming in October against Rosenborg BK - and in his absence, Jefferson Farfán has formed an impressive strike partnership with Jan Vennegoor of Hesselink.
