Teenage goalkeeper Kenneth Vermeer has signed a two-year extension to his contract at AFC Ajax, tying him to the Amsterdam club until the summer of 2008.
Extended deal
The 19-year-old was one of the stars of the Netherlands squad that reached the quarter-finals of the FIFA World Youth Championship on home soil in the summer. His existing contract with Ajax was due to expire in the summer of 2006, but the club have moved to secure the goalkeeper for another two years.
Ajax graduate
Vermeer is a graduate of the Ajax youth academy where he was chosen as Ajax youth player of the year in June 2003. He won the Dutch youth championship with the club's youth team, Jong Ajax FC last season before being promoted to the first team at the start of the current season.
