Triumphant campaigns
Brazilian playmaker Ronaldinho, who took the honour in 2004, was named European Footballer of the Year on Monday after helping Barcelona to last season's Spanish championship. Cameroon striker Eto'o scored 25 goals in the Catalans' triumphant campaign, while England's Lampard, second to Ronaldinho in the Ballon d'Or vote, was ever-present in Chelsea's Premiership-winning side. All three have carried that devastating form into this season. FIFA will announce the winner at a gala in Zurich on 19 December.
