Arsenal dismay over Dutch duo

Arsenal FC's promising young forwards Robin van Persie and Quincy Owusu-Abeyie are both facing an extended spell on the sidelines with knee injuries.

'Quite swollen'
Van Persie, 22, was injured in the first half of last night's English League Cup win at Doncaster Rovers FC. "Robin has a knock over his knee," said Arsenal manager Arsène Wenger. "I don't know how long it will be as it is quite swollen."

Ligament damage
Owusu-Abeyie, 19, took a blow in the same game is unlikely to play again until February, meaning he will struggle to be in contention for the first leg of the UEFA Champions League knockout tie against Real Madrid CF. "Quincy has a medial knee ligament that looks like a four-to-six-week job," added Wenger.

Henry boost
There was some cheer for the Frenchman, however, as he confirmed that Thierry Henry should be fit for the busy Christmas period despite concerns over an achilles injury.
