Bremen wait on Klose call

Werder Bremen have suffered a major blow ahead of their tie against Juventus with striker Miroslav Klose being sidelined for at least three weeks.

Race against time
Klose sustained a tendon injury to his right shoulder during Wednesday night's 3-1 German Cup quarter-final defeat on a frozen pitch at FC St. Pauli. If the upset of losing to third-division opponents was not enough, Bremen now face the prospect of being without their centre-forward for the first-leg meeting with Juventus at the Weserstadion on 22 February. "I just hope to get back to full fitness as quickly as possible," said the 27-year-old.

Setback for Schaaf
However, with Bremen's Bundesliga campaign resuming on Sunday at DSC Arminia Bielefeld, coach Thomas Schaaf lamented the loss of a key player. "We are glad he doesn't need an operation, but he will still be out for weeks. This hurts."
