The CA Banfield centre-back, who turns 20 on Wednesday, has agreed a four-year deal with the UEFA Champions League holders having made less than 30 appearances for Banfield since his debut last season. A powerful and combative defender, Paletta was a key component in Argentina's FIFA U-20 World Cup triumph in the Netherlands last year, appearing in all seven matches as Francisco Ferraro's team lifted the trophy for the fifth time.
First-team role
Paletta made nine appearances for Banfield in 2004/05, scoring twice, in addition to playing both legs against Colombian side CD Independiente Medellín in the third round of the Copa Libertadores. He has established himself as a first-team regular this term, starting another 15 league matches and scoring twice.
