Rijkaard praises Barça progress

FC Barcelona coach Frank Rijkaard believes his side have taken "an important step" towards the last eight following their victory at Chelsea FC.

José Mourinho, Chelsea manager
It's always difficult when you have one less player, and playing against a good team like Barcelona makes that task even more difficult. When you have ten men against eleven you are always going to struggle. However, I would prefer to say how proud I was of my players and the supporters. We must go to Barcelona in a positive frame of mind. There is nothing more we can do about tonight. We have got to go to Barcelona and compete on an even playing field.

Frank Rijkaard, Barcelona coach
It was not our best performance tonight, which was possibly due to the condition of the pitch and also the way Chelsea played, but I am pleased with the result and this will prove an important step in our attempt to qualify for the next round. In a strange way Chelsea's goal helped us. I saw a change in my players mentality and we reacted positively. Chelsea are a great team and we still have a lot of work to do.
