Fabregas losing fight for fitness

Arsenal FC manager Arsène Wenger has admitted that Cesc Fabregas has 'little chance' of recovering from a foot injury in time to face Villarreal CF.

Arsenal FC's injury problems have deepened after manager Arsène Wenger revealed that Cesc Fabregas is a major doubt for next week's UEFA Champions League semi-final visit of Villarreal CF.

'Little chance'
The Spanish midfielder is still struggling to recover from a foot injury picked up in the 5-0 league win against Aston Villa FC a fortnight ago, and Wenger believes time is against the youngster. "There is a little chance," Wenger said of Fabregas' hopes of recovering before Wednesday. "He has a recurrence of an injury and it is a worry, that's why we want to clear the problem out completely. At the moment it is not clear."

Key figure
His absence would be keenly felt by Arsenal, as the 18-year-old has been outstanding in this season's UEFA Champions League, scoring his first goal in the 2-0 quarter-final first-leg win against Juventus. The news comes a day after captain Sol Campbell underwent surgery on his broken nose, ruling him out for the next two weeks.
