Gueye goes to Crvena Zvezda

FK Crvena Zvezda coach Dusan Bajević has landed Senegalese defender Ibrahim Gueye from Samsunspor, with the 28-year-old out to face AC Milan.

FK Crvena Zvezda have signed Senegalese defender Ibrahim Gueye on a one-year contract from Turkish club Samsunspor.

Milan hope
The imposing 28-year-old centre-back has ended coach Dusan Bajević's search for an experienced stopper to bolster his rearguard. Crvena Zvezda are the defending champions in Serbia and look set to meet AC Milan next month for the right to play in the UEFA Champions League group stage, as they hold a 1-0 advantage against Cork City FC after the first leg of their second qualifying round tie.

'New step'
Before his one season in Turkey, Gueye had spent the previous five campaigns with Bulgarian side PFC CSKA Sofia, making a total of 110 league appearances. "I am happy because I have signed for the greatest Serbian club," he said. "I have not trained for the last 15 days because I was trying to find a new club but I am in good form and can help my new team-mates. This is a new step in my career and I am ready."
