Brazilian defender Rodrigo has given FC Dynamo Kyiv a lift before they conclude their UEFA Champions League second qualifying round tie this evening.

Coach content
The 25-year-old has agreed a new contract to keep him in the Ukrainian capital until summer 2011. He joined the club during the 2004/05 season from São Paulo FC and made 24 appearances in the 2005/06 campaign, scoring four goals as they finished runners-up to FC Shakhtar Donetsk. Dynamo coach Anatoli Demianenko said: "Rodrigo wants to play for Dynamo and gives us a lot. We also expect a lot from him."

European aim
Rodrigo has played the full 90 minutes of Dynamo's two league games this term but European matters have priority. The team should progress to the UEFA Champions League third qualifying round tonight as they welcome FHK Liepajas Metalurgs from Latvia with a 4-1 advantage. The winners will face Fenerbahçe SK for the right to enter the group stage. Two players that are leaving the club are Andrei Eshchenko, 22, and Igor Petković, 23, with the defensive pair going to FC Dinamo Moskva until December.
