FC Salzburg will have to do without the services of striker Alexander Zickler in tomorrow's UEFA Champions League third qualifying round tie at Valencia CF.
Torn muscle
The 32-year-old former German international limped out of Saturday's 2-0 Bundesliga win against SV Mattersburg after tearing a muscle in his upper thigh. Zickler, who has seven goals from six league games this season, is expected to be out for three weeks.
No alternative
"We will miss him desparately," said assistant coach Lothar Matthäus, whose team take a 1-0 first-leg lead to Spain. Head coach Giovanni Trapattoni is short of options when it comes to replacing Zickler. Czech Republic forward Vratislav Lokvenc has disappointed in Austria and may leave before the tranfer window shuts on 31 August.
