Olympique Lyonnais midfielder Florent Malouda has signed a contract tying him to the French champions until 2011 after extending his existing deal by a season.
Prized winger
Malouda, who was linked to several top European sides over the summer, joined Lyon in June 2003 from EA Guingamp and the 26-year-old has since made 109 Ligue 1 appearances, scoring 19 goals and earning 22 France caps. This season he has helped Lyon gain their habitual pole position in the league while beginning the UEFA Champions League campaign with wins against Real Madrid CF and FC Steaua Bucuresti.
Vercoutre extension
Reserve goalkeeper Rémy Vercoutre has also agreed to prolong his Lyon stay by another 12 months. Vercoutre has been at Stade Gerland since June 2002, playing understudy to Grégory Coupet whose consistent displays have reduced the 26-year-old to seven Ligue 1 matches, plus a loan spell at RC Strasbourg. His new contract expires in 2008.
