Fauvergue prolongs Lille stay

Nicolas Fauvergue has crowned a successful week in which he helped LOSC Lille Métropole qualify for the knockout stage by signing a new deal with the club.

New deal
The 22-year-old forward scored twice in Group H as Lille advanced to the last 16 for the first time and has been rewarded with a new deal which ties him to the northern club until 2011. Fauvergue came up through the Lille ranks and inked his first professional contract in July 2005.

European goals
Fauvergue has scored five times in 37 Ligue 1 games and has proved particularly effective in European competition, registering against FK Rabotnicki as Lille sealed a place in the group stage before hitting the vital late equaliser against RSC Anderlecht on Matchday 1. Another goal against Anderlecht on Matchday 5 kept Lille on course for the knockout rounds, which they duly confirmed with victory at AC Milan on Wednesday.
