Van Bronckhorst extends Barça stay

Left-back Giovanni van Bronckhorst has agreed to extend his contract with FC Barcelona for an extra season until June 2008.

The 31-year-old Dutch international joined Barcelona from Arsenal FC in 2003 and has since won two Spanish titles and the UEFA Champions League. Van Bronckhorst made his name at Feyenoord before enjoying a successful three-season spell in Scotland with Rangers FC. "I'm very satisfied and happy with the extension," he said. "It's a pleasure for me to play here for another season. If they had told me at the age of 15 or 16 that I would be playing for Barcelona when I was 32 it would have been a dream come true."
