Liverpool FC defender Steve Finnan will spend the next three seasons with the UEFA Champions League finalists after agreeing a new contract at Anfield.
Busy summer
The 31-year-old has been with Liverpool for four years, making 121 Premier League appearances as well as playing a major role in the 2004/05 UEFA Champions League triumph, although he could not help the Reds repeat that feat last season. As well as signing a host of new recruits including Andriy Voronin, Fernando Torres, Ryan Babel and Yossi Benayoun this summer, Liverpool have been keen to secure established performers on long-term contracts. Pepe Reina, Jamie Carragher. Mohamed Sissoko, Xabi Alonso and Steven Gerrard all extended their terms before Republic of Ireland right-back Finnan followed suit.
