Jiránek op leaves Spartak short

FC Spartak Moskva's Czech Republic international defender Martin Jiránek expects to be out of action for two months after undergoing ankle surgery.

FC Spartak Moskva's Czech Republic international defender Martin Jiránek expects to be out of action for two months after undergoing ankle surgery.

'Two months, I suppose'
The 28-year-old was substituted 51 minutes into Spartak's 3-1 home defeat by FC Zenit St Petersburg on Saturday and was immediately booked in to undergo corrective surgery in Germany. "I do not know exactly how long I will be missing," said Jiránek. "Two months, I suppose." If that prediction is correct, he will miss Spartak's attempt to reach the UEFA Champions League group stage from the third qualifying round and will also be unavailable for the Czech Republic's UEFA EURO 2008™ qualifiers against San Marino and Republic of Ireland in September. Karel Brückner's side are second in Group D.
