Kuranyi sits out Chelsea encounter

FC Schalke 04 striker Kevin Kuranyi is out of the UEFA Champions League visit of Chelsea FC on Tuesday due to a torn thigh muscle.

The 25-year-old was substituted during the second half of Friday's 1-0 defeat by the Bundesliga's bottom club FC Energie Cottbus, and will miss both the midweek game and Saturday's league encounter with Hamburger SV. He could still be in the Germany squad for their final UEFA EURO 2008™ qualifiers with Cyprus and Wales on 17 and 21 November. Schalke, who lost 2-0 a Stamford Bridge a fortnight ago, are bottom of Group B, a situation that would be rectified with a win against leaders Chelsea.
