Hutton hails 'world's best' Barça

Rangers FC defender Alan Hutton praised FC Barcelona as "the best team in the world" after the Scottish side fell to their first Group E defeat on Wednesday night.

Rangers FC defender Alan Hutton praised FC Barcelona as "the best team in the world" after first-half goals from Thierry Henry and Lionel Messi inflicted a first UEFA Champions League defeat of the season on the Scottish side at Camp Nou.

'Long, tough night'
"I think we've lost to the best team in the world and played in the best stadium in the world," said the Scottish international right-back, who produced an assured display in the face of immense pressure from Barça's attacking trident of Henry, Messi and the irrepressible Ronaldinho with the latter playing a key role in both goals. "It was a long, tough night but we worked very hard and finally created some good chances of our own once our substitutes came on.

Taking the positives
"Given how good this Barça side is there are many positives for all of us at Rangers to take from this experience, especially the fact that we refused to crumble after a bad start," added Hutton, whose side are now just a point above Olympique Lyonnais in Group E ahead of their meeting with VfB Stuttgart on 27 November. "We desperately didn't want to concede such an early goal as the one we did to Henry but we worked hard at our passing and, largely, kept Barcelona at bay. You know when Barça are on form, as they were, they'll create chances and what we now have to do is put the result behind us but learn from the performance."
