PSV skipper misses Moscow trip

PSV Eindhoven will travel to PFC CSKA Moskva on Sunday without captain Timmy Simons as the Belgian international is struggling with a back problem.

The 30-year-old played no part as PSV won 4-1 at SC Excelsior on Saturday and will undergo further tests early next week. Carlos Salcido will captain the team in the Russian capital on Tuesday as Manual da Costa is also sidelined with a knee injury. Ibrahim Afellay and Jason Culina both returned from lengthy lay-offs in the Eredivisie, and will hope to feature in the UEFA Champions League as PSV go in search of the win they need to keep their hopes of advancing alive.
