Carlos Salcido has followed the example set by Ibrahim Afellay by extending his contract with PSV Eindhoven.

'Very happy'
The 27-year-old Mexican international centre-back has extended his contract by two years until the summer of 2012 on improved terms. Salcido joined PSV in 2006 from Mexico's CD Guadalajara and has developed into a key player for the Dutch champions, captaining the side in the absence of Timmy Simons. "We are very happy with this," PSV general director Jan Reker said. "Again this proves we want to keep our important boys at PSV for a long time."

Afellay commits
Netherlands international Ibrahim Afellay, 21, signed a new contract at PSV on Tuesday, committing to the club he joined aged nine until summer 2011. PSV lead the Eredivisie by two points from AFC Ajax. They need a win in their final UEFA Champions League Group G game at home to FC Internazionale Milano next Wedensday, coupled with a draw or a defeat for Fenerbahçe SK at home against PFC CSKA Moskva, to reach the knockout phase.
