Adebayor setting San Siro goal

Striker Emmanuel Adebayor insists the goals will come at San Siro next week provided Arsenal FC can repeat their strong first-leg display against holders AC Milan.

Striker Emmanuel Adebayor insists the goals will come at San Siro if Arsenal FC repeat their strong performance against AC Milan next week.

No excuses
Arsenal were unfortunate not to score during a dominant second-half display against the European champions in the first leg of their first knockout round tie in north London. Adebayor himself came closest in the final minute when he hit the crossbar with a header. It was an uncharacteristic miss from the Togo international who has 22 goals already this season. "I can't explain it – that's football," he said. "Sometimes everything is OK, sometimes the ball doesn't want to go into the net. I had an amazing chance but put the ball on the bar. I was alone and thought the ball would go in, but you have to take it as it comes."

Electrifying form
Adebayor's electrifying form has been a major factor in Arsenal reclaiming pole position in the Premier League from Manchester United FC since the turn of the year. He scored in ten successive domestic games prior to the 4-0 FA Cup defeat at United on 16 February, but oddly is yet to find the target in the UEFA Champions League. The 24-year-old, however, is sure the goals will soon be flowing in Europe too.

'Enjoying myself'
"I just have to keep on enjoying myself and hopefully the goals will be back at San Siro. For a striker, the most important thing is to create the chance and hopefully if I get one in the San Siro I will put it in. A score draw will do there but we must think about winning because we know Milan can score at any time. Our belief is very high. We know it's not going to be easy but we have to keep on doing what we're doing at the moment and fight for the qualification. We're ready for it."
