Schalke shoulder Farfán blow

FC Schalke 04 have been deprived of the services of Jefferson Farfán for a month after the striker suffered a shoulder injury against Club Atlético de Madrid.

'Very sad'
The 23-year-old Peruvian international, a summer signing from PSV Eindhoven, partially tore the joint in his left shoulder and ruptured two ligaments in the 1-0 win against Atlético in the UEFA Champions League third qualifying round first leg, meaning he will be on the sidelines for around four weeks. "That's very sad because Jefferson was in good shape, as we saw against Atlético," said new Schalke coach Fred Rutten, whose side will defend their slender advantage in the second leg in Madrid on 27 August. "I have full confidence in the strength of our squad."
