Eredivisie champions PSV Eindhoven have announced the signing of striker Stefan Nijland from FC Groningen for an undisclosed fee thought to be around €4m.
Five-year contract
The 20-year-old, who was under contract at Groningen until the summer of 2012, has penned a five-year deal with the UEFA Champions League contenders. Nijland only made his professional debut for Groningen last season – his father Hans is general manager at the club – having progressed through the youth ranks. He went on to score four goals in 23 league appearances. The Dutch Under-21 international is PSV's eighth summer acquisition following the arrivals of Nordin Amrabat, Reimond Manco, Francisco Rodríguez Maza, Jérémie Bréchet, Andreas Isaksson, Erik Pieters and Stijn Wuytens. Meanwhile, 20-year-old reserve team goalkeeper Gino Mommers has joined Belgian side KSVK United on a one-year contract.
