Buy-out clause
It is the fourth contract the Greece midfielder has signed with the Athenian club, with Ninis having put pen to paper in December 2006 – the season he made his breakthrough – in February 2007 and in July that same year. Panathinaikos have inserted a €10m buy-out clause into the agreement for any foreign team wanting to buy the talented teenager, rising to €17m if a Greek side covets his signature.
'Dream come true'
"I know that the fans expect a lot from me and I promise that I will do everything I can to help the team," said Ninis after inking the new deal. "I'm happy with the way things have turned out for me – it's a dream come true." The Albanian-born Ninis, who has struck three Greek Super League goals in 20 games for the Greens, scored five minutes into his international debut against Cyprus on 18 May. He did not feature as Panathinaikos began UEFA Champions League Group B with a 2-0 home loss to FC Internazionale Milano last week.
