Wiese fit
Wiese, 26, was ruled out of Bremen's 2-2 UEFA Champions League draw at Panathinaikos FC last week after being hurt in training, but is now hoping to be fit to face Hertha BSC Berlin at home in the Bundesliga on Saturday. The visit of the Greek side is three days later, a game after which Bremen could move into the top two of Group B. "The muscle fibre has almost fully healed," Wiese said. "I feel fit and think that I will be playing again on Saturday."
Doubtful six
However, while Bremen coach Thomas Schaaf could have Wiese to call on at the weekend when his side aim to move into the top half of the league, strikers Hugo Almeida and Claudio Pizarro, midfielders Diego and Torsten Frings, and defenders Clemens Fritz and Per Mertesacker are doubtful. Schaaf said: "Hugo could not train today as he is sick and Torsten is suffering from muscular problems. We will have to wait and see regarding Saturday. Him not being in training today was a precautionary measure. Per has suffered a bruised hip from the Leverkusen match, but the one most likely to play is Claudio. We will have to wait to see what's happening with Diego and Clemens Fritz." Daniel Jensen is already out with an infection to ligaments in his achilles tendon.
