United stronger than ever, warns Senna

Marcos Senna blog: The midfielder praises in-form Villarreal CF team-mate Giuseppe Rossi as the forward prepares to face former club Manchester United FC, a team the Spanish international rates as better than ever.

Few people believed Villarreal would stay unbeaten for such a long time this season. I don't want to say we aren't respected as a team, but to avoid losing a single game in three months, prior to Saturday's 3-0 loss against Real Valladolid CF, was such a difficult task to accomplish that it was understandable that fans and experts were amazed by our form.

This is the best start to a season in Villarreal's history, but two or three defeats would cause a big outbreak of amnesia and everybody would quickly forget our feat! The season is very long and we are starting to lose players to injury, such as Diego Godín and Joseba Llorente. It's great we've had such an impressive start, but it's even more important we have a strong finish as well.

We need to stay focused and stop conceding goals at the end of games. It's impossible to forget about the last-minute goals we conceded against Atlético Madrid and Málaga. They were two wins that slipped out of our hands and it was four points dropped. If we had those points we would be on top of the table right now. Our defence is leaking a lot of goals, more than we are used to.

However, I don't think it is a huge problem; it's something we will sort out. We just need more concentration during the 90 minutes. Sometimes we think the opposition is not as dangerous as others and it takes a while before we realise the truth: every opponent has their strengths and can score at any moment. We need to have the same focus we show in the big games during the entirety of any match.

For example, we've played Manchester United three times in recent seasons and we've never conceded a goal, although it's true we haven't scored one either! Because of United's relatively slow start, people tend to think their side is not as good as last year. That is not true though, they are even stronger, with new players added and more experience on the pitch. Besides, they've already shown that they get better during the season, they never start at full speed.

Tuesday's game will be a tricky one. Just because we did well and held them to a goalless draw at Old Trafford, it doesn't mean we will easily win at home. We know we're strong at El Madrigal and we know that if we win, we will finish top of Group E. However, the primary target is just getting to the next stage. We have to be careful and alert from the first minute, otherwise we will get punished.

They have Cristiano Ronaldo, who is probably going to be voted the best player in the world soon, and they have a couple of brilliant strikers in Wayne Rooney and Carlos Tévez, who also do a lot of the dirty work to help their team out. Manchester United are one of the biggest clubs in Europe, they are the champions and they deserve our respect. I'm glad we have Giuseppe Rossi in our side. He has been showing amazing form of late. He's been scoring from everywhere and his left foot does amazing things on the pitch. I hope he keeps his streak going against his former club. I didn't play in the first match at Old Trafford, so hopefully I will start this game.

I feel really happy in my personal life and I hope this can rub off on my game, my team-mates and the supporters. Last week a dream came true for me, as we officially opened the 'Foundation Marcos Senna' in Villarreal. It is a very beautiful project and I hope, along with our partners, to help children, immigrants and people in need here in Spain. My next dream is to see it working and, soon, open another foundation and help a lot of people in Jardim Rincao, the poor neighborhood from where I come, in the outskirts of Sao Paulo.
