FC Porto coach Jesualdo Ferreira believed his side "should have won by a larger margin" after a 2-0 victory against Arsenal FC sealed top spot in Group G for the Portuguese champions. As Ferreira praised his players, who he said "grew" during the game, his opposite number Arsène Wenger felt "the belief was not there" from Arsenal.

Jesualdo Ferreira, Porto coach

My players did everything I asked them to do in yesterday's press conference. We deserved to win against a team that plays a special kind of football. They fielded several young players but with more maturity than my boys. I'm very glad to see that my players grew a lot. We were able to stop Arsenal's attacking play because we defended well and were humble. Bruno Alves scored another great goal and then in the second half we increased the pressure on our opponents and were able to keep Arsenal away from our goal. We should have won by a larger margin and this was a good way to finish, especially because this is the second year in a row that we have won our group. I don't want to talk about our possible next opponents. Let's just wait and see who we face.

Arsène Wenger, Arsenal manager
The only consequence of tonight's defeat was that we finished second in the group and that happened because Porto were stronger than us and deserved to win. In the first half we were not in trouble until we conceded the first goal. After that we saw our weaknesses at the back when we tried to go forward. In the last 20 minutes we lost the ball too many times and we were not effective enough up front. It's true we had some injured players but this was the only game where we could rest players. I think "underperformed" is a big word to describe how we played. However, especially when we were 2-0 down, the belief was not there. It doesn't really matter if we are first or second because we can fight with everybody and qualify against anybody. Now we have time to focus in the Premier League and we will wait and see who we get in the draw.
