Manchester United FC captain Gary Neville has followed long-time colleague Ryan Giggs in signing a new contract until June 2010.

One-club man
Neville, like Giggs, has spent his entire club career at United since joining as an apprentice in 1991, and since the defender's debut against FC Torpedo Moskva in the UEFA Cup the following year has gone on to make 565 first-team appearances, including more than 100 in the UEFA Champions League. The right-back, who turned 34 on Wednesday, helped United win the UEFA Champions League in 1999, though he missed last year's final victory against Chelsea FC having spent much of the season injured.

Honours
He has also won seven Premier League titles, three FA Cups and one League Cup, with many successes coming alongside his brother Phil, who played for United until 2005. Neville has a good chance of adding to those successes as United are top of the Premier League and still in all three knockout competitions, visiting FC Internazionale Milano on the UEFA Champions League on Tuesday.

Manager's praise
Capped 85 times by England, more than any other right-back, Neville was in the same youth team as fellow one-club men Giggs and Paul Scholes, as well as David Beckham and Nicky Butt. "Manchester United is the only club I have ever wanted to play for so I am delighted to have signed for another year," Neville said, while manager Sir Alex Ferguson added: "Gary, Ryan and Paul are the spirit of Manchester United and so we are delighted that Gary has signed for another year. Gary is a true professional and I admire how he has overcome an injury which kept him out for over a year, returning as good as ever. He deserves this new contract and we are very happy to have him here."
