FC Barcelona midfielder Yaya Touré has signed a one-year contract extension with the 2008/09 UEFA Champions League winners, keeping him at the Camp Nou until 2012.

Release clause
The Ivorian international has enjoyed an impressive start to his Barcelona career, having signed from AS Monaco FC in 2007, and the Catalan giants have used the opportunity to increase his release clause to €100m. "What's important is to play at a great club and Barça is the club at which I want to play," said Touré, whose older brother Kolo plies his trade with Arsenal FC. "My will is to end my career here but I have to continue showing that I can play at the level of this club."

Treble success
The 26-year-old made 25 Spanish Liga appearances last term as Barça clinched the title. He also contested 88 minutes of the Copa del Rey final against Athletic Club Bilbao, which Josep Guardiola's men won 4-1, and the entire game as Manchester United FC were defeated 2-0 in the UEFA Champions League showpiece in Rome last month.
