Ben Foster will have designs on becoming Manchester United FC's long-term No1 goalkeeper after agreeing a new contract extension which commits him to the English champions until June 2013.
'Great influence'
"I'm really happy to commit my future to the club," the 26-year-old told ManUtd.com. "The team spirit here is fantastic and working along side Edwin [van der Sar] and Tomasz [Kuszczak] has been a great influence on my career." Foster, who moved to Old Trafford from Stoke City FC in 2005, starred in United's penalty shoot-out victory against Tottenham Hotspur FC in the League Cup final last season but has played only three Premier League games for the Red Devils. Sir Alex Ferguson added: "Ben is seen as one of the best young goalkeepers in England and we genuinely see him as a successor to Edwin van der Sar."
