Swiss international Johan Vonlanthen has been loaned to FC Zürich by fellow UEFA Champions League contenders FC Salzburg for the coming season.

'Very happy'
The 23-year-old, who joined Salzburg in 2006, remains under contract at the Austrian champions but there is an option for the Swiss titleholders to sign the playmaker on a permanent basis. "I am very happy to have the chance to play for FC Zürich in Switzerland and the Champions League," said Vonlanthen, who left BSC Young Boys for PSV Eindhoven in 2003, a year before he became the youngest-ever scorer in a UEFA European Championship final tournament. "My goals are the same as the club's. I am looking forward to playing in this team. They play with quick passes and short passes and that's my style of football as well." Zürich will be in Friday's third qualifying round draw while Salzburg hope to get past Bohemian FC to join them in the Champions path of the competition.
