French international midfielder Alou Diarra has signed a two-year contract extension with French champions FC Girondins de Bordeaux that will keep him at the Stade Chaban-Delmas until the summer of 2013.
Crucial contribution
The 28-year-old moved to Bordeaux from Olympique Lyonnais in June 2007 and was instrumental in his new club's first league title in a decade last season, scoring two goals in 35 Ligue 1 appearances, both his strikes coming in crucial wins against AS Monaco FC and Lyon. Diarra, who has won 20 caps for his country, started his career at CS Louhans-Cuiseaux and had spells with FC Bayern München, Liverpool FC, Le Havre AC, SC Bastia and RC Lens before signing for Lyon in 2006.
