UEFA Champions League winners FC Barcelona have reached an agreement with FC Internazionale Milano for the signature of Brazilian left-back Maxwell for a fee which could rise to €5m.
Winning experience
The 27-year-old is expected to arrive at Camp Nou on a reported five-season contract and will help fill the void left by compatriot Sylvinho who was released by Barcelona earlier this summer. Maxwell enjoyed a successful three-season spell at Inter where he won a hat-trick of Serie A titles. The former Cruzeiro EC previously made 114 league appearances over four seasons for AFC Ajax, winning two Eredivisie titles and the 2004 Dutch Footballer of the Year award. Both Barça and Inter will enter this year's UEFA Champions League in the group stage.
