Dostanić replaces Velev at Levski helm

Fresh from reaching the UEFA Champions League third qualifying round, PFC Levski Sofia have replaced coach Emil Velev with Ratko Dostanić and appointed striker Georgi Ivanov as sporting director.

Fresh from reaching the UEFA Champions League third qualifying round, PFC Levski Sofia have replaced coach Emil Velev with Ratko Dostanić ona two-year contract.

Experience
Levski won 5-0 against UE Sant Julià in Andorra two days ago to move through 9-0 on aggregate to a tie against FK Bakı over the next two weeks for a place in the play-off round, with the first leg in Azerbaijan on Tuesday. They will be led by 49-year-old Serbian Dostanić, previously assistant to Slavoljub Muslin at Levski in from 2002 until 2003, after the departure of Velev, who was appointed last August and coached them to their 26th league title in 2008/09. Dostanić, most recently in charge of FK Srem in his homeland, has wide coaching experience including a spell at the FK Crvena Zvezda helm and was most recently in Bulgaria with PFC Slavia Sofia in 2006.

Further changes
Meanwhile, sporting director Daniel Borimirov has left to be replaced by fellow former Bulgarian international Georgi Ivanov, the 33-year-old Levski striker currently recovering from a severe knee injury and yet to decide on his playing future. Levski have also signed Slavia forward Deniran Ortega.
