Shoot-out heroics
The 2.08m-tall 22-year-old arrives at the Belgian champions from KV Kortrijk for an undisclosed fee on a contract until 2012, with an option for a further year. He showed his potential against Standard last season by helping to knock them out of the Belgium Cup in the last 32 with three penalty shoot-out saves. However, although Van Hout ended 2008/09 as Kortrijk's first-choice goalkeeper, he reverted to second-choice behind Glenn Verbauwhede when they opened their campaign against RSC Anderlecht last weekend.
Benteke on loan
Moving the other way is 18-year-old striker Christian Benteke, joining Kortrijk on loan for the 2009/10 season. The Belgian youth international moved to Standard in January from KRC Genk on a four-and-a-half year contract but has gone to Kortrijk to get playing time due to competition from Milan Jovanović, Dieudonné Mbokani and Igor De Camargo.
