The Portuguese winger opened the scoring at Wembley Stadium after ten minutes but had to leave the pitch with an hour gone following a challenge by John Terry. He will undergo a scan to determine the full extent of the injury on Monday, but Red Devils manager Sir Alex Ferguson confirmed he would miss Portugal's friendly with Liechtenstein on Wednesday. "He's out for a while, the worry being that we couldn't put it back into place," said Sir Alex. "He will definitely not play for Portugal in the week." United begin their Premier League title defence at home against Birmingham City FC next Sunday, while their UEFA Champions League campaign gets started on 15/16 September.
