Ashley Cole has become the latest player to pledge his future to Chelsea FC, agreeing a new four-year contract with last season's UEFA Champions League semi-finalists to follow in the footsteps of John Terry, Didier Drogba, John Mikel Obi and Florent Malouda in signing a new deal this summer.
Vast experience
The 28-year-old English international left-back moved to Stamford Bridge from Arsenal FC in 2006 and has since made 88 Premier League appearances for the west London club, scoring three times. Although league and UEFA Champions League success has been elusive – Cole losing in the final of the latter competition with Arsenal in 2006 and with his current club two years later – there have still been plenty of trophies for the defender to celebrate, with victory in the 2007 and 2009 FA Cup finals and a League Cup triumph in 2007. Chelsea's latest bid for UEFA Champions League success kicks off against FC Porto on 15 September, with APOEL FC and Club Atlético de Madrid the other two teams in Group D.
