Juventus midfielder Claudio Marchisio could be out for up to a month after injuring his right knee in training with Italy, making him a doubt for both UEFA Champions League Group A games against Maccabi Haifa FC.

Meniscus problem
The 23-year-old damaged the meniscus in his right knee ahead of the Azzurri's FIFA World Cup qualifier against the Republic of Ireland and tests on Friday revealed he will require arthroscopic surgery. Marchisio, who will be operated on in Turin on Saturday, will miss the Bianconeri's home game against Maccabi Haifa on 21 October and is a doubt for the return in Israel a fortnight later. Marchisio's injury is another blow for coach Ciro Ferrara who is already without captain Alessandro Del Piero because of a left thigh injury and Portuguese international Tiago, who will miss the home match against Maccabi Haifa because of a similar problem.
