Pedro Mendes will miss the rest of Rangers FC's UEFA Champions League group stage campaign after being sidelined for at least two months with a knee injury sustained in Tuesday's 4-1 home loss to FC Unirea Urziceni.
Medial ligament
The 30-year-old Portuguese midfielder was substituted at half-time of the Group G defeat and a subsequent scan showed up medial ligament damage to the knee. Former FC Porto, Tottenham Hotspur FC and Portsmouth FC player Mendes will sit out Rangers' remaining fixtures against Unirea, VfB Stuttgart and Sevilla FC.
Bougherra news
His deflected shot had sent the Glasgow club into an early lead at Ibrox, but an otherwise dismal night for Walter Smith's team left them bottom of Group G with a single point. Rangers have also learned that central defender Madjid Bougherra will be out for two weeks after twisting his knee in training on Monday.
