Goalkeeper Júlio César faces a race to be fit for FC Internazionale Milano's UEFA Champions League first knockout round meeting with Chelsea FC on Wednesday after a car accident last night.

The 30-year-old suffered lacerations to his face and bruising to his body in the crash and was unable to train on Monday. He will undergo tests tomorrow to check his fitness ahead of the opening leg of the Nerazzurri's tie with Chelsea at San Siro. The club are optimistic but should Júlio César, who has not missed a minute for Inter in Serie A or the UEFA Champions League this term, fail to recover, then the 38-year-old Francesco Toldo could step in.
