Manchester United FC striker Wayne Rooney and Arsenal FC captain Cesc Fàbregas are doubtful for the conclusion of their clubs' UEFA Champions League first knockout round ties next week.
Rooney, who missed the 1-0 win at Wolverhampton Wanderers FC on Saturday because of a knee problem aggravated while on England duty, is rated "very doubtful" by United manager Sir Alex Ferguson for the visit of AC Milan on Wednesday. The striker scored two headers in the first leg, which United won 3-2. Milan, meanwhile, will assess the condition of Pato and Clarence Seedorf's thigh injuries on Monday before deciding whether they should travel to England. Neither played in Saturday evening's goalless draw with AS Roma.
Fàbregas, meanwhile, could miss the encounter with FC Porto on Tuesday because of a hamstring injury. The midfielder opened the scoring in Arsenal's 3-1 victory against Burnley FC but was then replaced six minutes before the break by Abou Diaby. Arsenal manager Arsène Wenger said: "We don't know how big the damage is yet because it is too early. We'll see tomorrow or Monday." Arsenal trail Porto 2-1.
