Portuguese Liga runners-up SC Braga have made Stade Rennais FC defender Uwa Echiéjilé their second signing of the summer as they prepare for their maiden UEFA Champions League campaign.
The 22-year-old, who has been capped 12 times by Nigeria and is in their squad at the FIFA World Cup, has agreed a four-year deal and joins for an undisclosed fee. "I accept this challenge with no fear," Echiéjilé said. "Braga have grown so much recently both in Portugal and at a European level."
Though Echiéjilé did not feature in Ligue 1 for Rennes in 2009/10, he made 19 league appearances in his previous two seasons with the club. Braga finished second last term, their highest ever placing, to earn a spot in the UEFA Champions League third qualifying round. Echiéjilé's signing follows the arrival of Brazilian midfielder Leandro Salino from CD Nacional last week.
