Rosenborg BK have the Scandinavian bragging rights at the halfway point in their UEFA Champions League third qualifying round tie against AIK after Markus Henriksen scored the only goal of the first leg in Sweden.

Both sides are in the middle of their domestic seasons but while Rosenborg are top of the Norwegian Premier Division and on track to defend their title, AIK are languishing second from bottom in the Allsvenskan. Their hopes of finding solace in Europe diminished on 33 minutes when 18-year-old Henriksen found the net for the second successive UEFA Champions League game.

Though Robert Åhman-Persson briefly threatened for AIK in the second minute, Rosenborg were in the ascendancy from the off. Morten Moldskred had already had a sniff and Steffen Iversen been twice denied by Ivan Turina by the time the breakthrough arrived. Henriksen, a scorer against Linfield FC in the previous round, showed considerable poise to shrug off Daniel Tjernström and shoot left-footed into the corner.

The hosts had their chances to restore parity ahead of next week's second leg, Mohamed Bangura (72) and substitute Viktor Lundberg both narrowly missing the target. They were so nearly left with a doubly difficult task in the return, though, Per Ciljan Skjelbred heading wide with the goal gaping in the second minute of added time.
