Rangers FC midfielder Steven Davis is a major doubt for Wednesday's UEFA Champions League game against Bursaspor after suffering a hamstring strain in Sunday's 3-2 win at Aberdeen FC.

The Northern Irish international, 25, limped off 17 minutes from time and manager Walter Smith fears he will not be fit for the encounter with the Turkish titleholders. "He has a hamstring injury and although it isn't a full tear, I would have to say he's very doubtful," said Smith, who celebrated his first victory at Pittodrie since returning as Rangers manager three years ago.

"If we lost Davis it would be a blow because I feel he is just coming on to his game. Today [Sunday] was the best he played for us this season." Rangers drew their Group C opener 0-0 at Manchester United FC. The Glasgow club have won six out of six Scottish Premier League fixtures in 2010/11.
