UEFA Champions League contenders Rangers FC have signed French-born winger Salim Kerkar subject to receiving international clearance for the 23-year-old.

The younger brother of Algeria midfielder Karim Kerkar was released by French third-tier side FC Gueugnon earlier this season and has now agreed terms on a contract until the end of the 2010/11 campaign at Ibrox.

"He is a lad who is shaping up well," said Rangers assistant manager Ally McCoist. "He is a nice lad but more importantly he has a good left foot." Kerkar is not eligible to play in Rangers' remaining Group C games against Manchester United FC (at home on 24 November) and Bursaspor (away on 7 December).
