Schalke denied Gavranović and Kluge

FC Schalke 04 will be without Peer Kluge and Mario Gavranović for the first leg of their quarter-final tie against FC Internazionale Milano, the latter unlikely to return this season.

FC Schalke 04 striker Mario Gavranović is expected to be out for the rest of the season with an ankle injury, while midfielder Peer Kluge is certain to miss the first leg of Tuesday's UEFA Champions League quarter-final tie against FC Internazionale Milano.

Gavranović, 21, tore a ligament in his right ankle against FC St Pauli on Friday night and was forced off after seven minutes. Kluge followed suit in the second half having pulled a stomach muscle and will not make the trip to Milan, though Schalke have not revealed the anticipated length of the 30-year-old's absence thereafter.

Christoph Metzelder, meanwhile, broke his nose against St Pauli but could still play against the UEFA Champions League holders, who travel to Germany for the second leg on Wednesday week.
